Workshops for
Grades K-2

Body Basics- Find out how different systems work together to make our bodies work.
Bubbling Potions - Explore solids, liquids, and gasses using dry ice.
Decomposers- Discover the role that worms play in our ecosystem and in plant growth.
Dinosaurs- Delve into paleontology as we join a dinosaur excavation.
'Fun'-damental Forces-  Gravity... Inertia... Centripetal force... who could ever imagine that an introduction to physics could be so much fun? Experience these awesome forces for and use some cool devices to watch them at work!
Lights...Color...Action- Uncover the hidden components in ordinary light and build a Newton color wheel to prove it.  Use prisms to discover the colors hidden in white light.  Enjoy a chemical energy display while learning about the science of fireworks.
Machine Mania-  Introduction to simple machines.  Students will take home a propeller powered car that they build themselves!
Magnificent Magnets-
Investigate the invisible power of magnets.
Matter of Fact -Investigate the building blocks of the universe with this intro to basic chemistry.
Measurement- Learn all about the metric system of measurement.
Optical Illusions- Build a periscope while learning about optics, reflection, and sight! Use dimensional viewers and kaleidoscopes to fool the eyes. Seeing is not always believing!
Science of Magic-  Magic? No… It’s science! Learn the secrets behind famous magic tricks and then recreate them!  Mother nature has some tricks of her own, and we’d like to show you what’s up her sleeve!
Science of Toys-   Some favorite toys work using basic science principles! Use bouncing balls, yo-yos and other classic toys to discover the science of motion through fun hands-on activities. Find out how cool vector toys and string things work and make a “Crazy Ball” to take home.
Seeking Our Senses -Sniff out the science of your five senses and explore the world around us.
Slippery Science (Slime!)- Examine the properties of polymers and make a batch of slime.
Sound Basics- Discover sound waves and create your own sound effects.
Taste Buds- E
experiment with various taste sensations while "mapping" your tongue.
Where's the Air- Learn about the air all around us and discover its amazing strength.

Workshops for Grades 3-6
Black & Blue Oceans- Investigate an oil spill and focus on the impact of water pollution.
Bubbling Potions- Explore the states of matter, temperature, and phase changes using dry ice.
Cells- Observe and chart what all living things have in common. Make and keep a model cell.
Che-Mystery-  Explore one of the most exciting and fundamental sciences as you grow a crazy crystal garden and make your own “chemical” soda pop!
Ecosystem Explorations- Study food webs and the interdependence of living and non-living parts of an ecosystem.  Dissect owl pellets and keep the bones.
Electricity- Explore both static and current electricity.  Use a Van de Graaff generator with hair raising results.
Good Vibrations- Uncover the science of how vibrations are the key to your favorite tunes.
Harnessing Heat-  Witness a mini rocket launch while learning the properties of heat. Change the states of matter and bake your very own Mad Science Shrinky Dink to take home. (Make this workshop into more of a celebration by opting for the cotton candy take-home activity!)
Laser Light- Learn about light, colors, holograms, & special effects.  We’ll use a real lasers to create illusions, design a light show and compete in a friendly game of Laser Limbo.
Lights...Color...Action-
Uncover the hidden components in ordinary light and build a Newton color wheel to prove it.  Use prisms to discover the colors hidden in white light.  Enjoy a chemical energy display as while learning about the science of fireworks.
Mad Science Machines- Students will become elementary-age engineers and get to work with pulleys and levers. They will design, problem-solve, and have a whole lot of fun! Students will even take home a cool Mad Science Machine that they built themselves!
Matter of Fact- Investigate the building blocks of the universe with this intro to basic chemistry.
Mineral Mania- Peek beneath Earth's crust and learn about all rocks and minerals. Break open your own geode to take home.
Mischievous Magnets- Discover the electromagnetic spectrum and see how electricity can be used to create magnets.
Optical Illusions-  Build your own periscope while learning about optics, reflection, and sight! Use dimensional viewers and kaleidoscopes to fool your eyes. Seeing is not always believing!
Photosynthesis-
See how plants convert light into food.
Playing with Polymers (Slime!)- Chemistry basics will be examined as we brew up gooey polymers.
Scientific Method-
Volume- Be introduced to the scientific process involved in the measurement of volume.
