About Us

Mad Science of Windsor

Welcome to the exciting world of Mad Science.  Mad Science of Windsor is a franchise member of The Mad Science Group which is based in Montreal.  The Mad Science Group was founded in 1985 by brothers Ariel and Ron Shlien working out of their basement.  Today, Mad Science has grown to 194 locations in 24 countries around the world and it is recognized as the world's leading provider of educational science enrichment programs to elementary school-aged children.

Mad Science of Windsor was established in October 1998 under the franchise ownership of Michael D'Asti, OCT.  He purchased the franchise as he has always had an interest in science and teaching.  In fact, Michael holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours Biological Sciences) from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Western Ontario and he is a certified teacher registered with the Ontario College of Teachers.

Michael has assembled a team of professional "Mad Scientists" with about 100 years of combined teaching experience that are available to help educators, parents and youth group leaders in making science fun for children.  Operating as "science centres on wheels" and combining education and entertainment to create their unique brand of science "edutainment", he and his team of Mad Scientists annually perform 1,600 or more hours of programs for over 23,000 children and their parents in the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent areas.  With this kind of experience, it is no wonder that the Mad Science of Windsor team understands what it takes to capture the attention of today's young audiences.

While doing so, their mission is to spark the imagination of children, especially those ages 3-12, by providing them with fun, interactive and educational activities that instill a clearer understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around them.
