MAD SCIENCE® BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Mad Science® can help you give your child the best birthday party ever! We are like a science centre on wheels and come to your home or the location of your choice to conduct the party. Our parties entertain children ages 3-12 with exciting, high-energy, interactive shows. We have 7 different parties that we can perform so the presentation is always age appropriate. Our no-mess, hassle-free programs typically last one hour, with the option of adding special upgrades like cotton candy making, dry ice and rocket launches.

Mad Science® parties start with a quick magic trick to show the kids the difference between magic and science. The party continues with about 45-minutes of exciting demonstrations that may include cool chemical reactions, weird special effects, funky physics experiments and tons more!  But...this is not a magic show.  We will explain the science behind the activities to the children.  We wrap everything up with a hands-on activity during which all of the children make a fun and educational take home project such as slippery slime, fantastic Mad Science® putty or super bouncy balls.

In addition, the birthday child receives a certificate, a large Mad Science® poster that is personally signed by the Mad Scientist and every child at the party, a Mad Scientist T-shirt and a birthday post card that we will mail out next year.

MAD SCIENCE® PARTY DESCRIPTIONS

A brief description of each of our parties follows. The recommended ages for each party are indicated in square brackets after the title of the party. We generally will select a party for you based on the age of the birthday child, however, should you wish to choose an alternate party, you may do so subject to availability.

 

LITTLE TOP [Ages 3 - 5]

The Mad Scientist will get the children excited about the circus. The children will bounce clown toys on a mini trampoline as they learn about elastic forces. They will learn that the clowns can also do somersaults because of the change in their center of gravity. The children will then try tight rope walking, just like the clowns, by walking along a thick rope on the ground. All of the children will get to take home a Spell-E-Phant pencil or a circus stencil.

Please note that this birthday party is 30-45 minutes in duration and that the birthday child will receive a Mad Science certificate and birthday postcard next year.

 

AIR BLAST [Ages 5 - 7]

The main theme of this party is air. The children will be amazed as they learn about the properties of air and air pressure. They will discover the basics of polymers and polymer chemistry, experiment with fluids and vortex generators and be introduced to piezo-electricity. We will dazzle the kids with a demonstration of phosphorescence. Weather permitting, this party may take place outdoors. All of the children will make and take home Mad Science Putty.

 

MAD ABOUT BLUE [Ages 8 - 10]

The main theme of this party is light and colour. We will electrify the children with excitement as they watch our Tesla Coil demonstrations and learn about lightning, electricity and conductivity. We will have the children’s undivided attention as we separate out the colours that are hidden in white light and show them the difference between white light and UV light. All of the children will make and take home Mad Science® Slime.

 

REACTIONS IN ACTION [Ages 10 - 12]

The main theme of this party is chemistry and chemical reactions. We will highlight the difference between chemiluminescence and bioluminescence, demonstrate combustion and discover some of the properties of hydrophobic sand. The children will learn about electricity as they are introduced to our plasma ball. All of the children will make and take home a Mad Science® Super Science Ball.

 

FIZZY PHYSICS [Ages 5 - 12]    Best for outdoors!

The main theme of this party is physical and chemical reactions that are a gas! The children will be introduced to air and air pressure, the process of carbonation and sublimation. We will cap off the party by using air pressure and water to launch soda bottle rockets into the sky! This party works best outdoors during the warmer months as the children may get wet. All of the children will make and take home a Mad Science® Popper Rocket.

 

WIZARD PARTY [Ages 5 - 12]

The main theme of this party is the Wizardly Arts. We add a "magical" twist to our science party as the children learn about chemistry, density, heat, piezo-electricity, UV light and dry ice. This party is subject to an additional fee to cover the dry ice upgrade. All of the children will make and take home glow-in-the dark Mad Science® Slime.

Have a hair-raising experience while learning about static electricity!

 

Each upgrade adds about 15 minutes to the party. GST and PST are extra on upgrades purchased outside of packages.
